2026 TATTENHALL VILLAGE SHOW

The Plant Sale held on 16th May was a resounding success – raising over £700 to help support the costs of running the Tattenhall Village Show – fantastic work from the growers to the buyers!

The show falls on the first Sunday of September, which this year is the 6th September, 2026.

The schedule has been e-mailed out to Society members and is also published here (see blue download buttons to the right of the page) and on our Facebook page.

Nearer the time, a limited number of printed copies will be available at the Post Office.

There are plenty of categories that can be entered, not just fruit, vegetables and flowers you’ve grown but also art, photography, baking and craft.  So download the schedule and have a go!

The schedule lists all the classes that can be entered under various Section headings – Flowers, Vegetables, Art etc.  Each Section also has some notes on entries to these classes, so make sure that you really scrutinise the schedule for advice and the rules (but don’t be put off by the rules!). 

There are volunteer stewards (wearing yellow sashes) who are there on the day to help you stage your entries, so please do ask if you need assistance.

These are some additional tips for the fruit, vegetable and flower classes:-

• Read The Schedule – there is lots of information already in there to help you.

• Note the requirements of each Class i.e. the number and size of exhibit.

• Aim for uniformity in size, length and appearance.

• Pick/cut your exhibits as late as possible but allow time for preparation, cleaning, etc.

• Discard damaged flowers and leaves and misshapen fruit and vegetables.

• A small length of stalk should be left on fruit / vegetables e.g. on beans, cucumbers and fruit.

• Soil should be washed away, but don’t polish exhibits. Where possible, retain the natural ‘bloom’.

• Onions and shallots should have their roots removed, the tops should be trimmed and tied with raffia, string or wrapped with an elastic band.

• Flowers should be displayed in plain containers.

• Small vegetables and fruit can be displayed on a plate, in a dish or on a doily, etc.

• Root vegetables, after cleaning, must be displayed with their roots intact.

• When staging your exhibit, if you decide to change the class entered as shown on the entry form, please inform the entries desk. 

• The entries desk will give you stickers with your entrant’s number on.
  Please ensure one sticker is placed by each one of your entries, with the entrant’s number face down.
